Do Good

So the summertime heat has finally broken here in North Texas (for the time being at least) to where we can breathe again and want to spend some time outside.  The dog is running around the yard again and college football is in the air.  School starts next week and all will be back into the swing of things.  There is nothing like a brisk day to put your mood into check.  Puts me into an incredibly good mood and so now it is time to do some “fall cleaning” of the house to prepare for the hunkering down for the winter.  The dog days are over!
It also gives me pause to ponder the important things in my life.  The things that REALLY matter.  The things that make me feel whole.  My family, my friends, my new health coach colleagues, my clients, my almost clients and the like.  As we race through life, I think some times we tend to forget to take a step back and remember exactly why we are here-what is really important in the grand scheme of things.
Yes, of course, our jobs are intensly important and there so our bills can be paid and so that we can feel accomplished (hopefully) but what really matters, what really makes us whole and accomplished are the OTHER things in life….watching our kids smile broadly at doing something they love, listening to them wrestle in the other room laughing and loving, my son’s asking if he can sleep with his sister for just one more night, having the dog come over and rub his head on you asking to be loved just one more time, watching my husband smile because all is well, spending time with some of the best friends I know laughing, singing, dancing and just blowing it out one last time before school starts for the kiddos., having time for a personal conversation with God…but let us not forget about doing things for others-doing them without the need for high fives, accolades, awards or the like.  These are the things that are really important-that make us healthy.  That make us the people that God intended.
